The medical radiation technology professional is constantly faced with changing technology and varied demands from patients, employers, government, and the general public. The MAMRT is committed to providing continuing education opportunities to its members. We recognize the importance of members participating in life long learning and demonstrating professional growth. We strive to uphold the CAMRT Code of Ethics and Standards of practice by ensuring that members have opportunities to remain competent in daily practice. The MAMRT Executive roles include the provision of educational sessions as part of their job descriptions. Continuing education goals for the MAMRT include the following:
- Providing educational sessions at the MAMRT Annual General Conference held in spring each year.
- Maintaining a lending library for MAMRT members with current textbooks and journals to support their learning needs.
- Supporting the efforts of internationally educated medical radiation technologists in challenging the CAMRT national certification examinations.
- Supporting Essay and Exhibit Competitions at provincial and national levels.
A member who has been out of the profession for less than 5 years (resigned and inactive, or a non-practicing member) will need to contact the MAMRT office to reinstate. Please note, if the membership lapsed (as in the member chose to not renew membership and did not contact MAMRT within the required timeframe) there may be a reinstatement fee charged to the member.
For members who have been out of the profession for 5 years or more, the successful completion of a refresher course is required. The MAMRT no longer offers refresher courses but will direct potential candidates towards the institutions who offer a course for the member’s specific modality. All course fees (and any relocation costs, if necessary) will be at the member’s expense. Potential candidates, please contact the MAMRT office for more information.
